PAGE 12 - FORGIVENESS .....We only see in others that which we see (subconsciously) in our self. Until we own this truth, we will continue to carry the burden of our darkness. .....If we can honestly and maturely accept every one, including ourselves, exactly where they are and the way they are this very moment, great changes in ourselves, as well as others, will automatically occur. .....The worst disease known to man is, automatic judging. Indeed it is man's greatest shortcoming. Our only assignment, as a Christian, is not to judge or blame, but to forgive. The ego expresses its insecurities by judging everything, trying to ensure happiness by keeping everything tightly controlled. It splits life into two rigid categories, good and bad. When we feel we have to be right in order to be good, we are ensuring our ego's existence and edging God out. It doesn't matter whether we are right or wrong... unless our ego is more important than God. .....It has been said that when we lift ourselves, by forgiving, we lift 30,000 other people with us. When we think of the farreaching effects that one life can have, I'm sure there is a lot of truth in this statement. .....When someone attacks us, instead of attacking back, defuse the situation. Just say, "Bless you, (there name), Bless you" or, "Thank you for sharing." .....It is so rare for people to forgive, that when we make the conscious choice to forgive, it is a miracle. When you are having trouble forgiving someone just forgive yourself for blaming and judging and you will have nothing to forgive them for. Affirmation: 1. I forgive others for what I think they have done to me and I forgive myself for blaming and judging. And so it is! |
