PAGE 5 - INTERNAL PEACE ..... Another thing that will help us tap into our Inner Power is inner peace, a power unknown to most men. Below are fifty things that the man with true inner peace knows. 1. As inner peace is recognized as his single goal, forgiveness becomes his single function. 2. He cannot ever be poor or miserable for, come what may, in his heart he remains happy and prosperous. 3. When someone attacks him, he chooses to view that someone as fearful and calling out for help and love. 4. He is slow to accuse and quick to forgive. 5. God's love is within him, whether his eyes are closed or open, whether he is asleep or awake. It is always there; it has always been there; it will always be there. 6. He gives nobody any reason to be his enemy. 7. He knows his enemies, the foremost is fear. He knows that the expression of fear, anger, greed, hatred, worry, envy, lust, deceit, vanity, cruelty, slander, gossip, revenge, impatience, jealousy, injustice, intolerance, insincerity, dishonesty and disloyalty denies him the use of his Inner Power. 8. He knows that to find love, joy and peace of mind he need only look within. 9. He does not allow himself to be hurried into any careless action. 10. He knows that unless he forgives others for what he thinks they have done to him, he will be unable to forgive himself and experience peace of mind. 11. He cherishes his visions and dreams for they are the children of his soul, the blue- prints of his ultimate achievements. 12. He is constantly searching for ways to help others. 13. He understands the eternal law of compensation. 14. He prays a constructive, thankful prayer that does not amount to begging for special favors for he knows God has already given him the ability to acquire all his needs. 15. He truly, deeply believes he will have sound physical health and he will have it and all the wonders that go with it. 16. He expresses his gratitude daily for all of his blessings and shares his blessings. 17. When others make honest mistakes, he makes allowances for them. 18. He keeps himself free from the bondage of debt. 19. He never speaks of sickness or misfortune, but looks at them as blessings. He converts all adversities and defeats into assets for he knows all defeat is temporary. 20. He is open-minded on all subjects, with all people. 21. He knows that when he fears something, it is more likely to find him and harm him. 22. He never slanders or condemns anyone no matter how much their faults may have affected him. 23. He has control of his emotions at all times, whether the circumstances are favorable or unfavorable. 24. He is not afraid to say "I do not know." 25. He does not sit around thinking about his worries, for he knows it adds strength to the worry. 26. He has no racial or religious prejudices. 27. He knows that the surest way to finding peace of mind is to do that which helps the greatest number of others to find it. 28. He avoids every form of excess. 29. He knows that suffering through physical and mental pain and sorrows can be the way to reach a higher and better plane of existence. 30. He is at peace with himself and with all mankind. 31. He does not leave his mind in conflict for long so that he can walk in health and peace. 32. He does not fear anything or anyone. 33. He seeks no revenge for any wrongs or injustices done to him. 34. He will not profit in any transaction if it harms anyone else. 35. He frees himself of unnecessary encumbrances, both material and mental. 36. He knows that to fear the loss of love, as so many do, is as damaging as imaging one's self dead, in advance of dying. 37. He is so busy living his own life that he is not tempted to interfere in the lives of others. 38. He allows positive emotions to guide him so that negative emotions will not rob him of peace of mind and the presence of God. 39. He makes decisions that will return him to peace this instant. For it is only when he is peaceful that he can be truly kind. 40. He understands that trying to control and manipulate others is only an unconscious attempt to deny his fear of death. It is the ego's way of playing God. 41. He has made a decision, today, to awaken to the presence of God's love within him, and to give that love to everyone, excluding no one. 42. He knows that the moment he makes a condemning judgment, his peace of mind and the presence of God is gone. 43. He knows the world does not have to change before he can be happy, peaceful and thoughtful of others. The only thing that has to change is his attitude. 44. He can choose fear or love in everything he does. There is no third alternative. 45. He is still amazed at how often he prefers to be right rather than happy. Yet he is thankful that each moment is a new opportunity to choose peace instead of conflict. 46. He strives to establish harmony in his home and with those he works with. 47. His faith is his great universal medicine which prevents illness, cures illness, heals and sustains. 48. It is central to his happiness that his years, long or short, be free of anger and that he gives others the gift of kindness. 49. He never talks about himself unless it is necessary, and then never in a spirit of boasting. 50. He knows that the last, three part rule is the most important and covers all the other rules St. Matthew 5:44 But I say unto you, love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them that despitefully use you, and persecute you; 22:37 Jesus said unto him, thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul. and with all thy mind. 22:38 This is the first and great commandment. 22:39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. 22.40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. |
